“The Radiochemistry Group” named in the past as “The Nuclear Chemistry Service”
was formed in 1973. Up to 1995 this group was headed by V.M.Zaitsev.
The first investigations were devoted to study of the chemical consequences of
nuclear transformations in organic substrates. In 1975 a program on the
development of methods for production of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals,
based on them, for diagnostic purposes, as well as radionuclide sources for
brachytherapy started. These R&D activities were conducted in collaboration with
the Central Research Institute of Roentgenology and Radiology, the USSR Ministry
of Public Health
(See
Historical overview of main activities).
At present, the Radiochemistry Group takes active part in preparing projects
involved radionuclide production and nuclear waste handling
(See
Current Projects).
