HYLAFAX CHANGE INFORMATION
Note that this is a major new distribution and lots
of things have changed. Consult the general overview
for a high-level description of the new functionality provided in the
v4.0 software.
This document describes the changes made to the software between the
previous and current versions (see above).
If you don't find something listed here, then it was not done in this
timeframe, or it was not considered important enough to be mentioned.
The following information is located here:
CHANGES IN THE SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION:
- a workaround was added for systems with sed commands that
do not accept more than 100 commands
- configure now records the setting of all configuration parameters
in a config.cache file that is re-read at startup; this makes
parameters set interactively persistent across configuration runs
- configure now automatically checks for the SunPRO C++ product
as a potential compiler
- the Makefile rules for the SunPRO C++ compiler are now properly
setup on SunOS systems
- configure now verifes that the C++ facilities properly support
global static variables with constructors (as required by the software)
- configure no longer assumes the function declaration for
crypt resides in <crypt.h> when that file is
present
- auto-configuration of the AFM files was corrected
- several new configuration parmaeters were added to control
workarounds for systems with incorrect function declarations
- DSO configuration has been changed to make it easier for non-IRIX
schemes to be added
- configure now sets CONFIG_OPENFIFO to
O_RDWR for recent Linux systems (to workaround a kernel
bug introduced in release 1.3.80)
CHANGES TO FAXQ:
- a bug was fixed where the maximum number of tries and the maximum
number of dials were not checked correctly if the server-configured
values were less than what the client specified
CHANGES TO FAXSEND:
- the count of pages transmitted is updated after each page is
acknowledged so that clients can track a job's progress better
CHANGES TO HFAXD:
- the local timezone name is now printed correctly on systems that
support tm_zone (e.g. BSD/OS)
- protocol tracing messages were compacted from two lines per reply
to one line
- the creation of character special device files in the chroot'd
filesystem was fixed
- a bug was fixed that caused hfaxd to idle aimlessly when
started by inetd
CHANGES TO SENDPAGE:
CHANGES IN MISCELLANEOUS TOOLS:
- the emulation of killall in probemodem, faxaddmodem,
and the system boot script was improved/corrected
CHANGES IN THE PORTABILITY SUPPORT:
